An ejido and the Restricted Zone differ significantly. Although both entail extensive land areas reserved for Mexican citizens and arose post-Mexican Revolution, they have distinct characteristics. Ejidos are widespread across Mexico, whereas the Restricted Zone encompasses properties along Mexico's borders and coastlines.

Non-Mexicans can acquire property rights in the Restricted Zone via a fideicomiso, while buyers of ejido land are bound by specific agrarian terms unless the land is privatized.

It's important to seek Mexican legal advice to determine a property's classification before taking any steps.
